Lessons from memes to take into 2018

2017: it’s been an interesting one. It’s been a great year for some reasons and a terrible one for a lot of reasons. But one thing is certain; it’s been a brilliant year for memes.

Memes are silly, but say what you will about social media, memes are special. There’s something fascinating as to why things gets shared by hundreds of thousands of people. And you think  ‘why did that go viral?’
It’s New Year’s Eve. I could’ve written something about New Year’s Resolutions, but this is better.

Let’s take these meme lessons into 2018.

1. Persistence pays off

with a little help from Twitter… Probably the best tweet of the year, which became the most retweeted tweet of all time. When a guy wants his nugs, he gets his nugs. A true ‘started from the bottom’ story.

2. Take things with a pinch of ‘Salt Bae’

If you’re going to do something, you might as well do it with a bit of flair and passion à la Salt Bae.

3. If you fall, style it out

It may just be the most success you have that year 😂! Like Gemma, make yourself into a ‘memay’*, put the Titanic theme tune to it, don’t stop talking about it. Ever.
