Gucci is back.
Alessandro Michele has revived the brand after its style and business started to tire under former chief Frida Giannini. Now, the revamped designerΒ labelΒ is back on the map, with everyone either seen wearing Gucci loafers, belts and handbags or coveting the Gucci style. The high-street is taking note.
Β There were some wonderful, wacky looks at Micheleβs Spring/Summer 17 show at Milan Fashion Week and I loved it. It was mesmerising.
So, I thought itβd be fun to recreate the look with pieces from the high-street in a more wearable wayβ¦ because, letβs face it, who wants to go out looking like a Christmas tree?
Just so you know what Iβm talking about, hereβs Gucciβs βI-was-just-going-into-my-loft-when-the-Christmas-decoration-box-fell-on-me-and-now-Iβm-covered-in-tinselβ look:
Want to try it out?
Hereβs what to look out for:
-
Texture
Ruffles, ruffles, ruffles. This is a big trend this spring and summer, so it wonβt be hard to find.
Search for tiered ruffles and general flounciness on the:
- sleeves
- yoke
- Collar
- hems
- skirt
Just look to a flamenco dancer for inspiration, Β‘olΓ©!

Colours
Shades of green, red and pink.
Green and red will forever be synonymous with this iconic Italian house. We also saw a lot of baby pinks and fuschias thrown into this season’s collection for a spring-time feel.
If in doubt, dress in the Italian flag.Β

Animals
Tigers, insects, snakes…Β It wasnβt too hard to find these animals embroidered onto T-shirts, jackets and jeans on the high-street.
Oversized blouse: Topshop | Bag: Zara
-
Embellishment
Embroidery: embroidered florals and animals on everything: leather, denim, jackets, knits… You name it. The more the better. Oh, and throw some sequins in there.
Here I am, pretending to sunbathe; can you see why I got A* in Drama?!

Prints
Florals, stripes, diamonds, graphic lines (think classic cricket sweaters).
Dress: | Bag: Zara | Shoes: Zara
This and is Gucci down to a tee – from the red floral to the ruffles, stripes and pussybow-tie. Every time I’ve worn this,Β it getsΒ compliments.
-
Fabrics
This is all about exaggeration and luxury. Think leather, satins, knits, faux snake-skin, Β jacquards and then layer them all!

Bows
Gucci does the pussy-bow blouse so well. You could also grab a ribbon or silk scarf and tie a bow around your collar⦠or wherever you can put them! The bigger the better, of course.

The shoes
If there’s one Gucci item that everyone’s coveting, it’s their Princetown MulesΒ Luckily, I found these very similar mules from Asos. They were a little tight to begin with, but as they’re real leather, they’ve eased up andΒ means they should last longer.
Mules: Asos | Socks: Asos
If you’ve been eyeing up the , then I think are the best. There are quite a few dupes of these on the market (Primark to name one) but these are by far the best quality dupes I’ve seen. In second place comes these mules from EGOΒ with embroidered snake added (I don’t know how they got away with these!).
I loved creating this post! Have you been inspired by the new Gucci Γ la Alessandro Michele style?
Will you be wearing any these Gucci inspired trends? Let me know; Iβd love to read any comments!
