Real sues the fakes<\/h1>\n

It’s nothing new that the high-street takes inspiration from luxury designer houses. But when they go too far, the fakes can be sure there’s a copyright violation lawsuit coming after them for a BIG sum of money…<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

We all love a designer piece, (whether you’re aware of it or not, as these cases will prove) but we love getting value for money too. That’s why we like ‘dupes’<\/strong> (duplicates) at a price that’s easier on your purse<\/strong>. But, sometimes these cheaper brands cross the line and go from selling pieces that are inspired by a design to completely copying it down to a tee to the point of becoming fakes.<\/p>\n

So, when does a ‘dupe’ just become a ‘fake’?<\/h2>\n

Calling it a fake is more incriminating, but this is essentially what a lot of high-street retails are producing now: fakes and knock-offs.<\/strong> Oh yeah, I said it!!!<\/p>\n

Aquazzura sues Ivanka Trump and Steve Madden<\/span><\/h2>\n

Aquazzura\u2019s \u2018Wild Thing\u2019 heel<\/a> was the \u2018it\u2019 shoe to have<\/strong>. But as soon as it gained popularity, it gained a lot of copycats too. <\/span> As we all know by now, the Trumps have no shame and think everything is their god-given right. So, why should a shoe design be any different? Caring is sharing after all! Ivanka couldn\u2019t even be bothered to change one thing about this shoe! <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It appears Steve Madden didn\u2019t learn from other\u2019s mistakes and (stupidly) tried copying the EXACT SAME SHOE right after Aquazzura sued Ivanka Trump!<\/strong> Facepalm<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"NumberGucci sues Forever 21<\/span><\/h2>\n

Trends fade. Most of us don’t want to spend thousands<\/strong> on something that’ll last just one season. That\u2019s why I started my designer inspiration series<\/strong>: getting designer style on the high-street<\/a> including\u00a0how to get the Gucci look<\/a>. Right now, Gucci is in the spotlight, so naturally, brands have been emulating the Italian designer.<\/span>\"Fashion<\/a>But, Forever 21, being Forever 21<\/em>, decided it wasn’t enough to create something similar and went all out copying THREE items exactly, including a butterfly knit top, stripe trousers and a silver leather bomber jacket.<\/strong> So, do these Forever 21 pieces fall under the \u2018fake\u2019 category rather than \u2018inspired by\u2019? Gucci seemed to think so, and took their arses to court.
\nThe offending Forever 21 bomber is not available anymore, but they certainly haven\u2019t learnt their lesson \u00a0– <\/span>this other Forever 21 bomber is such a Gucci rip-off<\/span><\/a>!<\/span><\/p>\n

Puma sues Topshop and Forever 21<\/span><\/h2>\n

Slides have been a big trend this year,<\/strong> partly due to miss Rihanna and her Fenty x Puma slides<\/a> (much to some people\u2019s dismay).<\/span><\/p>\n

And because everyone\u2019s coveting the \u2018I left the house in a rush and forgot to take my slippers off\u2019 look (I\u2019m a fan of that – all about the comfort), of course, hundreds of high-street shops started to rip-off the Puma slides<\/strong>, including \u00a0Ego.co.uk<\/a>, Stradavarius<\/a>, Steve Madden<\/a>, Topshop<\/a> and Forever 21<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Yet Puma has chosen to take the last two retailers to court over it. Forever 21 isn’t fazed at all – having been juggling 50 accusations of copyright violations<\/strong> from designers such as Diane von F\u00fcrstenberg, Anna Sui, and of course Gucci as already mentioned in this list.<\/span><\/p>\n
